Elise 111R 2ZZ-GE Re-Packable System
This system has all the features required to keep your track/race exhaust in tip-top condition.
The cheap/rigid exhaust mounts place a huge load on the hanger brackets, so I've moved them to a saddle-clamp layout. These have an in-built flexibility to isolate the system from excessive engine/transmission movements.
The silencer body is rolled/welded from 0.8mm thick stainless steel. The inlet end-cap experiences the most stress, so the silencer is double-skinned at that area and the end-cap itself is welded in place. I use this double-skin plus another baffle-plate to form a Helmholtz resonance chamber (H1 version). This drops the noise by another 5dbs approximately. You can see the internal spot-welds on the silencer skin. H1 version for best noise control - standard for most circuits.
The removable outlet end-cap is a 2bular pressing with a tapered flange to ensure a good seal once it's pushed home. I now use stainless pop-rivets to hold it secure - quick/easy to replace. Threaded fasteners tend to gall (seize) when exposed to exhaust heat.
On the Thru-Diffuser systems, the silencer is off-set inwards to clear the rear grilles/number-plate. I work a lot with race teams and on their advice, I've used a V-band connector to allow the pipework to be disconnected from the system during the re-pack task. It's quick and secure.
With quality fabrication/welding, this is a proper race exhaust which can be refurbished/re-built time and again.
